Howdy!
Being adopted and raised an only child, I’ve always been able to play alone, to keep myself busy building hotels for bugs and drawing complex worlds in my sketchbook, but when my parents bought me my first DV Camera for my 11th birthday, I discovered the filmmaking process and I was immediately hooked. My two incredibly supportive parents allowed a solid foundation for my creative aspirations, and with this new passion, I began to build a community around me that spent our afternoons and evenings making little movies. Since then, filmmaking has always been how I experience the world around me, how I communicate my thoughts, how I form bonds with others, and how I find purpose in this life.
In my work, I try to focus on concepts such as trust as a function of survival, disillusionment caused by neglected dreams, paranoia in the digital age, and isolation in an overpopulated world.
An accomplished commercial director and cinematographer, John has worked with major agencies and brands for the past ten years. In the commercial world, John is known for his sophisticated, whimsical visuals paired with visceral narrative approaches. His ability to break down complex ideas into simple, emotional moments has earned him the moniker “watchmaker” in the NYC advertising world. As an award winning filmmaker, John also writes and directs psychological horror short films. He is currently in development on his debut feature film, a disaster dinner party movie.
